A single Structure Trader Grind Pack contains the following resources and tools:
500k Low Grade Ore
203k Steel
200k Water
60k Gemstone
2k Aluminum
4x Generic Crafting Tool
4x Structure Crafting Tool
This is a guide on how to grind your trader character from CL5 to CL90 in 3 hours!
- Introduction
Before I start off, I'd like to say the following, I would not advise player who have not played a trader character before to make use of this service and the following guide. The simple answer as to why I do not recommend this, you will not learn a trader profession by grinding your way to level 90. Crafting and trading in Star Wars Galaxies is about as complex as it gets MMORPG-wise, which is one of the reasons I like this game so much. But if you want to learn this profession, grinding is simply not the way to go. If you are new to this game or new to crafting, I recommend contacting Cholok, the guild leader of CEN and Master Professor at the Centaurus Academy of Crafting at Centaurus -RP- on Dantooine. He will be more then happy to help you learn any crafting profession and assist you in any possible way.
However, if you are familiar with the crafting profession and quickly want to level your new character up to level 90 and get straight to business, this service along with the following guide is definately worth considering! This guide assumes that you have a fresh CL5 structures trader character and that you are using the Structure Trader Grind Pack as mentioned in this thread.
- Essentials
1) Entertainer buff
Before you start crafting, be sure to get an entertainer buff at your local cantina, with a max duration (~5 1/2+ hours) with the following buff:
+10 Architecture Assembly and Experimentation
(please note that advanced assembly is for shipwrights and not artisans)
2) Practice mode
As you start crafting, it is important that the practice mode is always checked. This does not give you the item you are crafting, but it does give you more experience. If you do not use the practice mode, you will need more resources.
It is important that you have this buff and use the practice mode for every item you create, otherwise you will not receive enough experience and you could run out of resources before you reach level 90. Now for the interesting stuff, the guide on how to grind to level 90 in 3 hours!
- Crafting Macros
In order to speed up the crafting process, you can use macros to save mouse clicks which cost time and cause RSI. At this moment, it is not possible to fully automate the crafting process, but we will try to save as much click as we can to ease the process. Especially for this method, I have added 4 Generic Crafting Tools and 4 Structure and Furniture Crafting Tools in the pack which can be used in cooperation with these following macros. You will need to create 6 macros and place them all on your toolbar. The macros are as following:
Macro name: toolbarslotf1
/ui action toolbarSlot12;
/pause .6;
/ui action defaultButton
Macro name: toolbarslotf2
/ui action toolbarSlot13;
/pause .6;
/ui action defaultButton
Macro name: toolbarslotf3
/ui action toolbarSlot14;
/pause .6;
/ui action defaultButton
Macro name: toolbarslotf4
/ui action toolbarSlot15;
/pause .6;
/ui action defaultButton
Macro name: Next1
/ui action defaultButton;
Macro name: Next3:
/ui action defaultButton;
/pause .7;
/ui action defaultButton;
/pause .7;
/ui action defaultButton;
After you created these macros, you must place them in your toolbar in the following way:
www.imagecross.com/11/image-hosting-view-14.php?id=7362toolbar.jpg
The first 4 macros will now activate the crafting tool above them (changing their position requires you to change the "/ui action toolbarSlot##" number, or it will not function properly) and immediatly start the crafting session for the by default selected item. This means that the first time you start crafting (and the first time you start crafting another type of item), you will have to craft one item by "manually" activating the crafting tool and selecting the correct item. After that, the crafting macro will automatically choose the last item you crafted. This is when you can start using the 4 macros to save one click.
The macro in box #5 is slightly obselete but I still found I used it quite a lot of times. With this macro "Next1", you can do one step without clicking the button (which saves a little time). The macro in box #6 (called "Next3" here) however, is much more used. This allows you to proceed 3 steps by just hitting 6 once. Both macro "Next1" and "Next3" are not restricted to any position on the toolbar.
The actual crafting process will now go as following:
Step 1: Hit F1 to boot up the first crafting tool
Step 2: Select the correct item (any survey tool for the first few levels)
Step 3: Hit 5 or click "Next" and "Confirm" on the crafting screen
Step 4: Double click the required resource (steel) enough times (4 times) until all the required boxes are filled
Step 5: Click next (for some reason, a macro will not work in this screen)
Step 6: Click next/confirm until you are in the final crafting screen
Step 7: Tick the "pratice mode" box and craft the item
From now on, you can craft all your survey tools by following these steps:
Step A: Hit 1
Step B: Double click the resources until all boxes are filled
Step C: Click "Next" and "Confirm"
Step D: Hit 6
When you start creating a new type of item (Wind Power Generators), you will have replace the Generic Crafting Tools with 4 Structure and Furniture Crafting Tools and select the new item you wish to craft. Be sure to put on practice mode again (I'm pretty sure it stays on but it's wise to check it anyway). From then on, proceed with steps A-D until you reach the required level. Using this method will speed up the entire process a lot once you get the hang of it and it will save you a painful hand too.
- Crafting Procedure
More important things to keep in mind! The first issue is the order in which to use your resources. Sometimes you can use different resources for the same box, it is important that you keep the following hierarchy in mind:
(Low Grade Ore) > Steel > Gemstone > Aluminum > (Water)
This means that if in a single slot, you may use any mineral, it is important choose Steel over Gemstone and Aluminum, or you will run out of the latter two faster then neccesary. This is mostly relevant for the Wind Power Generators as you might run out of Aluminum if you use that before using Steel.
Additionally, when you make "Crafting Stations" (CL18-CL42), you will see that there is the option to add components (orange box). Note that these are optional, resources for these are not provided in the Structure Trader Grind Packs, as they are not really needed to craft the item itself.
When you start crafting it is important that you follow this list closely if you wish to use the least amount of time and resources. Wasting resources in the early stages might get you into trouble later on.
CL05 - CL10: craft ~53 (any) Resource Survey Tools (use generic crafting tools)
CL10 - CL18: craft ~28 Wind Power Generators (use structure and furniture tools)
CL18 - CL42: craft ~175 Crafting Stations
CL42 - CL86: craft ~325 Fountains
CL86 - CL90: craft ~50 Gungan Head Statues
