Oh, right. My first guide ever. Prepare for some rants every now and then, because let me tell you: Grinding a pet (afk or atk) is crap boring.
Profession: Ok, I'd definetly say: "go medic", not sure if your pet could handle the best grindspots with only one heal. (Because unless the enemy is lvl 70+ he won't gain xp if you attack it, he got to kill them alone) Medics has the luxury that they actually are great at keeping themselfs alive, and great at keeping their pets alive. This is how I do it as medic: (Pics may come later)
I have the healing expertise, and the pet combat line (left side of BM expertise) up to the last box. You don't need that one for grinding.
Macros:
Ok, macros are fun. I had no idea on how to really write macros when I returned, but guildies and guides helped. *thumbsupsmiley*....
Macro's can be used to fire off specials and whatever else on your toolbar. I use two-lines on my toolbar. One the low line, I have specials, on the upper line, I have macros.
I use three healing macros: One bacta bomb, to keep myself alive. It goes like this: /tar self /ui action toolbarSlot00; /pause 32 (reload time is 30-31 seconds) /macro healgrenade (or whatever you call the macro.
toolbarSlot00 is the number for the special in toolbarslot 1. Ironically...
I also have the bacta spray, which heals both me and my pet if he's close enough. /ui action toolbarSlot01; /pause 16 /macro healspray
01=2.
And my last heal is my pet heal. /ui action toolbarSlot02; /pause 16; /macro petlife. You put the petheal in toolbarSlot 3. Important note on macro writing: Remember capital letters!
I also have a pet supplement macro: Pet supplements lasts for 15 minutes, aka 900 seconds.
Have your supplements in toolbar slot 4.
/ui action toolbarSlot03;
/pause 905 (if you have 900, it probably won't fire off the supplement)
/macro petsupplement
Your pet also needs food. Have his favourite food in toolbar slot 5.
/ui action toolbarSlot04;
/pause 2700 (approx 45 min)
/macro petfood
That should cover the toolbar, I believe. Now you need an attack macro! This macro here will cycle trough targets and tell your pet to attack.
/ui action cycleTargetOutward;
/pause 0.5;
/ui action petToolbarSlot0;
/pause <time>; (I use 5 in the beggining, but I change it to 20 later on. Basically you got to check that out yourself)
/macro attack
Also, depending on the place you can /follow your pet to guarantee that you can heal him. But sometimes, thats a bad idea. (You might target some targets 100 meter away f.ex)
One other important thing is to spin around automatically. Sometimes thats not too smart; if there are many targets right in front of you, then don't spin. But places like the walluga spawn needs spinning (and following, which is one of the reasons why it's a problematic spawn). You spin by: Ctrl+Shift+s
Anyways, the first 50 or so lvls are Ok. Some people say "don't use supplements the first 30 lvls", which I suppose might be reasonable in some cases. This will make your grind time as lvl 90 (towards Best Friend Forever) less, but at the same time: Does it really matter if you make that grind as lvl 90 or lvl 1-30? Thats up to you too decide, I guess.
Now, the most important thing for an AFK-grind is the location. For the first 20-or so lvls I would recommend doing it semi-ATK, because he lvls so fast anyways, and he won't get xp in the beggining if he kills things 10 lvls lower than him or more. (This gap get larger with lvls)
Lvl 1: Mobs around Eisley.
Lvl 6: Put him to kill some thugs a bit further outside eisley, you'll struggle to keep up with the respawn rate. I find these guys to be great. Wp will be added later.
lvl 15: Alkharan bandits between AH and Bestine. WP later. -961 -4274
lvl 25: Narglatch outside Dejera peak. Not 100% certain of WP, found this another place. Think it is this: -2612 -920
lvl 35: Tyrena Ragtag thugs. -5684 -2874. This is a fairly camped spawn already, but there's room for at least two.
Now, the though part starts. The part I at least got problems with =/
(if you got any advice on good places to grind out these lvls post it!)
lvl 45: Wallugas on Rryatt Trail, the large spawn. The problem with this place is that it has a nasty habit of aggro'ing some Bolotaurs and Walluga on another platform, which you will struggle to help him on.
lvl 55: Escaped wookiees on Rryatt trail (High grounds) Ok, am not sure but I think you can jump straight from the Ragtag thugs too the Escaped wooks. These guys are easier too, just clear the spawn out first (so they don't all spawn at once) and then fire up yur macros!
More lvl'ing spots will be added later.
